Carole Martin writes for Monster.com an excellent article about how to “dress for success” at the job interview. Click here to read the entire piece. But the top 10 list of common sartorial mistakes are shown below.
Wild Nail Polish: This tip is for women or men. Extremely long or uncut nails are a real turnoff, too. Your nails should be groomed and neat.
Jangly Jewelry: Don’t wear more than two rings per hand or one earring per ear. And no face jewelry or ankle bracelets allowed.
Open-Toed or Backless Shoes: And mules are a definite no-no. Out-of-date shoes should be thrown out or kept for other occasions.
Bare Legs: Wear stockings, even in humid summer weather. Stockings can be in neutral colors or a fashion color to match your shoes.
Out-of-Date Suits: These have lapels that are too wide (three inches or more) or too narrow (one inch or less). A good tailor can alter lapels. The style for men’s jackets is full-body and looser rather than fitted or tight.
Short Skirts: Hemlines should not be more than three inches above the knee. Don’t wear capri pants or leggings to the interview.
Leather Jackets for Men or Women: Even leather blazers are not good for interviewing purposes. They look like outerwear.
Turtlenecks for Men: A tie is preferable, at least in the first go-round. At the very least, wear a collared shirt.
Printed or Trendy Handbags: Purses should be conservative and inconspicuous.
Red Briefcases: Briefcases, purses and shoes should all be conservative in color and in good condition.

I agree that this is an excellent article on “how to dress for success. In the work field, I have worked as an Manager. I was surprised at how prospects would come dressed for an interview, yet the standards have dropped. In today’s society, people working in the professional arena can wear nose rings
This blogger remembers as a young man, having a hard time finding a job with his long hair. Also, driving through the deep south with said hair pushed up under a cowboy hat to avoid raising the ire of the locals. Today, I land executive positions with my pony tail intact. Funny how social mores evolve.
How we dress is a big part of how we are perceived in life. Jangly jewelry is a big no, but I don’t see the problem with ankle bracelets.
First appearanc counts, less is better and allows you to stand out in a professional point of view in the “world of work.”
First impressions are what count! Surprised you mentioned capris and leggings though. Are ladies actually wearing that to interviews nowadays?

Jewelry in good tast will imrpve our outfit.
Have to say…i totally agree about the Stockings: “Bare Legs: Wear stockings, even in humid summer weather. Stockings can be in neutral colors or a fashion color to match your shoes.”
They are so fashion and elegant, bare legs should be banned 🙂
I agree.. In order for them to hire you should give them a good first impression through that they will remember you.. And of course you should be more aggressive during the interview.. Show them how good you are because that impression for sure will last.
I think you should consider wearing khaki pants because it is modern and fashionable. You can wear it also in special occasions, a dinner date or family gathering. This pants are comfortable to wear and made from denim materials.
